A physically demanding tour, just a few minutes outside of the tourist hotspot of Canggu, where you will discover the magic of rural Bali and learn how Bali is aiming to remain balanced and fresh, despite the rapid growth of tourism. This is the ideal tour for anyone who is interested in fitness, nature, culture and the Balinese culture and how it remains in harmony with nature, community and the gods.

This shared tour is available twice a week as a shared tour, or can be booked as a private tour for groups or families, in which case it can be booked as an afternoon or morning activity.  A moderate level of fitness is required and this tour is recommended to children from the age of 13 years and older.  The standard itinerary involves 18km of cycling, but this can be adapted to suit your requirements.

After the tour you may wish to enjoy lunch at Puri Gede Kaba Kaba, the seat of the ancient local principality which was established in 1341.

(07:30 – 07:45, optional) Pick up from your accommodation or designated meeting points in the Canggu area

08:00 Meet in KabaKaba.  Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee as you stretch your legs and enjoy the rice paddy views.

08:45 Safety briefing, choose and adjust your bike .

09:00 Start your cycling tour on quiet lanes, exploring Kaba Kaba’s ancestral sites, learning about the different peoples who have settled this area. Take in the views of the rice paddies across to the mountains.

10:00 Hop off your bike and walk to the river that protects the area.  Enjoy  a brief break in the shade while your guide explains  how social life in Bali is organized.

10:30 Head closer into the rice fields and visit a water temple nestled among the fields.  You’ll also learn about how rice farming came to Bali.

11:30 An optional visit to Batur Sari temple

11:30  Visit a sacred spring; this is another optional part of the tour.

12:15 A four hectare complex of buildings were at the heart of Kaba Kaba’s ancient principality. This is your chance to visit these historic buildings.

12:45 The tour finishes back at our starting point. You may like to enjoy lunch at the palace.
