After an early morning pick-up from your accommodation, enjoy a drink and light breakfast at the Lookout Deck, as you survey the stunning scenery of both Mount and Lake Batur in the changing morning light.
You’ll see a combination of green landscapes, alongside the black lava slides from the recent eruptions, between 1963 and 1999. A 7km gently sloping walk will see you rise 400m as you walk across ash fields and lava rock crusts, before what is for many this highlight of the trip – stepping inside the crater itself.
This trek is a quieter alternative to the Mount Batur Sunrise trek which can get very busy. You’ll still be able to enjoy this volcanic landscape and magical views, just without so many people around! The trek starts at a temple which is the gateway for the spiritual domain of Batur for the local population. As you stroll along the pathways through the lava formations and on sandy sloes you’ll see steam vents called fumaroles that can even be used for cooking.
Walk back down across the back of Batur, before enjoying a lunch admiring the views of the landscape through which you have just been trekking.
The tour includes pick up & drop off, coffee break, snacks along the way, drinks and a buffet lunch, walking stick if needed, guides & support team.
